Reduprost is a medication used to treat hair loss in men. It is the generic form of Propecia and is available at a fraction of the cost. Reduprost is a prescription medication and must be prescribed by a doctor. It is not available over the counter.
Reduprost (finasteride) is a synthetic 4-azasteroid compound that is a selective inhibitor of Type II 5a-reductase, an intracellular enzyme that converts the androgen testosterone into 5a-dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Reduprost is a white crystalline powder with a melting point range of 242°-256°C. It is freely soluble in chloroform and in dioxane, soluble in alcohol, and slightly soluble in petroleum ether.
Reduprost is available as tablets for oral administration. Each tablet contains 1 mg of finasteride and the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol 400, povidone, pregelatinized starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide, and yellow ferric oxide.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Reduprost include:
decreased libido
erectile dysfunction
ejaculation disorders
testicular pain
These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own. If you experience any of these side effects, contact your doctor.
Dosage
Reduprost is available as 1 mg tablets. The recommended dosage is one tablet daily. Reduprost can be taken with or without food.
Reduprost should be taken for at least 3 months to see the full effect. If you stop taking Reduprost, you will lose the hair that you have gained within 12 months.
Interactions
Reduprost may interact with other medications. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. During pregnancy, Reduprost should be used only when prescribed.
Overdose
If you take too much Reduprost, contact your doctor or poison control center immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include:

Storage
Reduprost should be stored at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Reduprost out of the reach of children and pets.
